How do I optimize my listing so it is more appealing to buyers?

Think of your wedding dress listing like an advertisement being read by someone who doesn't know anything about your gown. Buyers love details, so the more accurate information and pictures you can provide, the better🙌🏻.

To optimize your listing for our internal search engine and Google:

✔ Know the Designer & Style Name/Number

The style name is critical for brides to be able to find your dress on both our site and search engines like Google and Bing; it is the primary way brides search for their dream dress. There are a few ways you can find out the style name/number if you're not sure:

  • Call the store your dress was purchased from to grab this information
  • Find a style number on a tag sewn onto the dress, either near the back of the gown or under the skirt
  • Google Image search the designer and year you bought it, and surrounding years as it may be a previous collection. Example: Hayley Paige 2017 bridal collection
  • Use the advanced search on Dress Finder to look for your designer, scroll through the collections you see
  • Look up the designer's official Pinterest - they often save the collection by year!

💲 Price is Right
Price is one of the most important factors that influence your wedding dress' chance of selling.  The more attractive the price, the more inquiries you will receive. While pricing is 100% your call, we are happy to help guide you. Check out: What price should I sell my dress for? or reach out to our support team for additional advice.

If after a few months you find you aren't getting the traffic or inquiries you had hoped for, consider reducing your price.

📸 Pictures Are Worth 1000 Words
Your pictures are the best way to showcase your wedding dress.  Ideally, your listing will contain images of the full front and back of your wedding gown. Listings that have clear, good-quality pictures of an actual person wearing the dress sell more successfully than anything else. 💯 Give Detailed Information
Assume that a buyer won't know anything about your dress unless you tell her. More is definitely better.  Include information about:

  • Why you chose this dress and what you loved about it. Adding this into your description can sometimes really help another bride really fall in love with your dress over others.
  • The embellishments and fabric, your measurements, the alterations and if/how the gown was cleaned or preserved. Check out: How do I describe my alterations?
  • The cool things it has! If it sparkles, if it has pockets, write about that. Your listing will come up in our search when a bride types those keywords.

📖 Full Disclosure Is Important
Buyers are more likely to keep a dress if they know exactly what to expect. Your description should talk about any missing beading, tears, loose seams, or stains that you notice on the dress. Even dresses that have been professionally cleaned and preserved can sometimes have a missing button or blemishes that were not disclosed before it was sealed.

🧐 Include Your Wedding Dress in the Correct Categories
Once your listing is live on the site, always double-check that all your listing details (silhouette, features, measurements, etc) are correct: If a bride is only looking at dresses with pockets, and yours has them but doesn't say so, your dress won't come up as an option! You'll want to have the best, most accurate information as some buyers search only by these criteria and you want the right buyer to come across your dress🙌🏻.

🕙It is important to note that selling times really vary and depend on many factors including designer, season, what is in style, condition, size, etc. The process can take anywhere from just a few weeks to a  year. Just remember - your online listing never expires and includes dedicated customer service that handles it all🥰.
