How long does it take for a dress to sell?

Selling time varies and depends on several factors including designer, season, style, condition, pictures, etc. The process can take anywhere from just a few weeks to a year or more.

Dresses that are priced competitively (at least 40% off retail for used gowns), have great pictures, and lots of details in the description sell the fastest (depending on the season they are listed in).

It is important to have:

  • Great Pictures
Buyers need to see a real person in the actual dress they are buying. Show it off! Use pictures from your try-on, fitting, wedding..etc. Or have a friend model it. Do not use screenshots, small-sized pictures, or even black and white shots.
  • Accurate Details
Make sure your listing has the correct measurements, style name or number, be sure to talk about alterations, why you chose the dress, what you loved about it, and anything else you think will help a future bride say yes to the dress. Be HONEST! If there are any blemishes - stains, loose applique or beads etc - describe them and add some pictures.
  • Realistic Pricing
The goal is to price your dress realistically so that you can sell it in a reasonable time frame while maximizing what you get for it.

We know that deciding on the price to sell your own wedding dress can be one of the difficult parts when you sell it. But we also want you to be set up for success when you list your dress for sale and for that to happen it has to be accurately priced.
