How is my wedding dress protected?

There are a few ways we protect your gorgeous gown:

  1. Payment from the buyer is secured before your dress ships.
  2. Shipping and insurance are covered by Nearly Newlywed.
  3. Both sellers and buyers are provided with instructions on how to take detailed pictures and videos of each gown when it sells, as a seller packs her dress up, and as a buyer unpacks her dress.
  4. In the rare event that your dress is lost or damaged in transit, we will handle the UPS claims process and will either pay to have the dress restored or you will receive the full 70% commission for the sale.
  5. Brides are required to take thorough return pictures and videos for our review before they are provided with a prepaid shipping label. If for some reason your dress sustained wear beyond normal shipping and try-on use (and is not fixable), the return will not be accepted and you will receive the full 70% commission for the sale.

Setting You Up for Success

When your dress sells we will send you instructions that strongly recommend you take pictures and videos to record the condition of your gown/any accessories it comes with before you ship. This protects you in the rare event that the buyer claims blemishes or damages were already there when she received the dress. It is very important that you capture every part of your dress.

Understanding Returns

Our brides have 5 days (from the moment they receive their shipment) to return their item for any reason. Our return policy is valid on all of our items shipped within the contiguous United States - including new, sample, and used wedding dresses and jumpsuits - for a $50 return fee (per item)*.

It is important to note (as laid out in our Terms & Conditions) that by listing on NearlyNewlywed.com, you acknowledge and agree that because of the nature of the business for wedding gowns, there is a certain degree of normal wear that may occur from handling from the buyer that cannot be insured against, and that NNW shall not be liable for such minor wear.

Even a brand new item may show gentle signs of being handled - this is an expectation we set with buyers as well. When a dress is tried on or packaged/unpackaged to ship, it is reasonable to expect some signs of acceptable wear during these actions. Within reason, Nearly Newlywed considers acceptable signs of wear to be small - both in size and amount - and easily remedied. This means that they can be easily cleaned or brushed off, taken off with a lint roller, trimmed with scissors, or sewn back on (etc).

Acceptable Wear Examples:

  • loose threads
  • internal marks on the lining or underlayers that are not visible while worn
  • loosened bodice lining
  • marks from touching other objects or the floor
  • pet fur
  • marks inside the neckline or straps from makeup or self tanner (not visible from the outside)
  • dust
  • missing or loosened buttons, beads, or gems

Concerns of this nature will be assessed on an individual basis by our team. In the event that your dress is returned, or requested to be returned, and found to be damaged, soiled, notably worn, or missing items or attachments, NNW will act as a mediator for our brides and sellers. If they are irreversible, or we deem the dress to have been worn to an event, the return request will not be honored and a refund will not be processed and the seller will be paid their commission as expected.
